Andrew Madden

Formerly a journalist, Andrew's greatest personal achievement was completing his law degree in his mid-thirties; Andrew now specialises in criminal law, civil litigation and business law. Since commencing at Heinz & Partners in 2006, Andrew has enjoyed the supportive work environment and intellectual challenge of his broad roles. He is most satisfied career-wise when he can obtain positive results for his clients. When not assisting and representing his clients, Andrew enjoys spectating at his children's sports matches and following his favourite club - the Redan Football Netball Club.

Having been admitted to practice in 2007, Lubna works in the firm's business law department and advises clients on a range of areas including retail and commercial leasing, franchising, commercial agreements, business sales and acquisitions, Wills and Powers of Attorney. Lubna values the professionalism of all lawyers at Heinz & Partners. Outside of work, Lubna utilises her legal skills to successfully engage in other commercial and business ventures. In her spare time, Lubna enjoys travelling and wine tasting.

Jess joined the Heinz and Partners family law team in 2007 and undertakes work in children's issues, property settlements, child support matters and the family division of the Children's Court. Within her role, Jess enjoys the many opportunities to be challenged and to develop both personally and professionally. One of her most satisfying projects at the firm has been her involvement in an extremely complex IVF matter in which judgment was reported and assisted with the making of new case law. Outside work, Jess enjoys playing netball and touch-footy.

 

Sonya McDonald

Sonya McDonald joined the Heinz & Partners family law team in 2011, having worked previously within numerous government departments in roles including judges associate at the County Court and senior prosecutor at the Department of Sustainability and Environment. From this experience, Sonya has learned firsthand the inner workings of the court system and been exposed to high quality advocacy on a daily basis. Sonya enjoys helping people navigate the legal system and helping them achieve what they are seeking through the law. She is a volunteer solicitor with the Central Highlands Community Legal Centre and holds numerous qualifications, including a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne. Sonya has two young children and enjoys travelling and gardening.
