Peter Heinz

Peter Heinz is an accredited Family Law Specialist and the partner responsible for the family law and probate services at Heinz & Partners. He joined the practice in 1979 and became a Partner shortly after. Peter has experienced first-hand the expansion in family law as a discipline. A notable legal development that Heinz & Partners has embraced is the establishment of court-appointed Child Representatives, who advocate for the interests of a child in a legal dispute. Peter has been appointed on a number occasions, and believes the responsibility of the role is a privilege. Peter enjoys the challenges of his role and assisting clients from all walks of life. In his spare time, he keeps fit playing tennis, walking and going to the gym. He also enjoys spectating at the races and following the Geelong Football Club.

 

Ian Hankin

Ian leads the firm's business law department and advises clients in relation to all aspects of business law. A partner in the firm since 1979, Ian is also an Accredited Business Law Specialist. He is the legal adviser to many Ballarat businesses and has held directorships in numerous private and public companies. Ian enjoys helping clients and values the team spirit and ethical conduct at Heinz & Partners. His advice is ‘always be scrupulously honest and ethical in all dealings'. Ian's professional achievements include winning the Law Institute's prestigious Solicitors prize and becoming chairman of Banksia Financial Group. Ian is a past president of the Ballarat Law Association, former member of the Council of the Law Institute of Victoria and life member and past president of Commerce Ballarat. Ian has a keen interest in politics and international affairs and is an enthusiastic Collingwood supporter.

Graham Hills

Graham is a one of four partners at the firm and heads the litigation department. An Accredited Specialist in the fields of personal injury law and mediation, Graham enjoys helping solve client problems, interacting with judges and lawyers and providing strategic advice to long term clients. Two of his most satisfying career achievements include successfully defending a claim for several million dollars brought against a major client, and settling a claim for a young teenage client; in both cases the litigation was hard fought and won. The best advice he has received is: ‘if you do your best you will never be disappointed whatever the outcome'. In his spare time Graham is kept busy following the activities of his six children and is a die-hard Carlton supporter.

Luke Dunne

Appointed a partner in the firm in 2010 and with more than 12 years legal experience, Luke is an Accredited Specialist in Business Law. Luke advises clients from a broad range of industries on all manner of business transactions, focussing on timely and cost-effective advice relating to business structuring, contractual and taxation matters. He also assists clients through the personal, emotional, structural and taxation challenges of business succession and complex estate planning. At Heinz & Partners, Luke enjoys the friendly and easy going atmosphere of the firm, coupled with the strong work ethic of staff. Luke's hobbies include competing for his local basketball club, spectating at his children's activities and occasionally getting to a Ballarat Miners or Geelong Cats game.

Andrew Faull

Previously a senior lawyer at a Geelong legal firm, Andrew Faull joined Heinz & Partners' business law department in 2008 and was appointed Partner in 2011. He manages and works across an extensive portfolio, ranging from management of complex commercial litigation to strategic and focussed commercial advice, general business law and value-adding to client businesses. Andrew enjoys achieving positive outcomes for his clients in a timely and practical manner. These have included successful defence of price fixing proceedings brought by the ACCC, and more recently, defence of an action involving a contract and property law dispute in the Supreme Court which has now become a leading authority. Outside of work, Andrew enjoys spending time with his children, travelling, gardening and sport. Andrew has also completed the last two Melbourne Marathons (just), is Chairman of the Ballarat Health Service Board and is a member of the Ballarat YMCA Board.
